13 Sep DAF Trucks, first CF series of fully electric
DAF Trucks has partnered with the VDL company to launch a first CF series of fully electric.
DAF was one of the first manufacturers to introduce a hybrid truck for distribution in Europe and has continued to develop hybrid and electric engines. VDL Groep is the leader in the electrification of commercial vehicles.
The CF Electric will be a 4×2 truck destined to the distribution of up to 40 tons, within urban areas in which the single or double axle semi-trailers are the standard.
The truck is based on the DAF CF and will use E-Power technology for propulsion. A technology of last generation zero emissions and minimal noise for a totally electric circulation, created by VDL. It uses an electric drive of 210 kW, which gets its power from lithium-ion batteries with a current total capacity of 170 kWh.
It will have an approximate range of 100 kilometers. The fast charging of the batteries can be done in 30 minutes and a full charge is carried out in just 1.5 hours.
The technology can be tested by the main DAF customers throughout this year.
