Hiring will increase during the Christmas campaign

According to data recently presented by the consultant Adecco Outsourcing, during the 2019-2020 Christmas campaign it is estimated that almost 1,148,000 contracts will be signed in Spain.

This figure represents 7.3% more than in the same period of 2018-2019. In spite of the political uncertainty and the constant warnings about an economic slowdown that have been carried out during the last months from different entities.

This increase is slightly lower than what occurred during the previous campaign, which was 8%.

An important element of this campaign is that Adecco has estimated that the duration of the contracts will be longer than in recent years. The main reason is that the current campaign will begin with the discounts of the month of November (Black Friday, Cyber ​​Monday) and will last until the end of January, also including the period of first sales.

Carlos Villacastín, director of Adecco Staffing, has warned in the presentation “… we are going through a period of great uncertainty in the markets. The advanced indicators such as the Industrial PMI are not very positive and that provides for a situation of economic slowdown. Despite this, we anticipate a positive Christmas hiring campaign because Temporary Work allows companies to make the workforce more flexible and we believe it is a very good solution for times of uncertainty like the current ones. ”

By sectors, large consumption is one of the great beneficiaries during this time of year, in terms of demand for employment, and can increase by 40% compared to the rest of the year. We must not forget that this sector plays a substantial part of its sales in this final part of the year.

The logistics and transport sector plans to increase the number of contracts by 15% compared to the previous months and 10% compared to the Christmas campaign a year ago.

The sectors where there will be greater job creation in these months will be food, distribution and retail, logistics and transport, electronic commerce, high perfumery and cosmetics, electronics, toys, image and sound.

In the field of Ecommerce, which continues to gain weight year after year, increases in hiring on platforms that cover e-commerce between 20% -25% are expected.

The most demanded profiles in the distribution and retail sector will be dependents, promoters, packers, packers, cashiers, inventors, replenishers or warehouse waiters.

In logistics and transport, it will seek to hire warehouses, administrative for traffic departments, order pickers with radiofrequency and forklifts. In coastal areas, port logistics will also need dockers and heavy machinery drivers.
